Heat recovery with (UV) system

Model Kramp, a company that specialises in high-quality packaging printing, moved to a new premises in Hanau in May of this year. The new building boasts a complex system for heat recovery, which also includes the drying systems from IST METZ. The heat recovery concept will be used for heating or cooling the premises, depending on the time of year.

New UV products with LED technology and energy-saving potential
A strong international presence is a must in the printing and surface technology sector, therefore IST METZ presented at the IPEX, the printing industry’s leading international trade fair held in Birmingham from 18th to 25th May, four innovations to an international audience, all designed to enable energy efficient yet powerful curing of paints and lacquers using UV radiation. IST UV innovation: MBS-5 Inkjet
The MBS®-5 Inkjet UV system has been specially developed for high-speed inkjet applications with a high power requirement. A 270 W/cm lamp system guarantees optimum curing of the inks. The compact design allows easy integration of the UV unit into printing systems and production lines. Once again, URS® technology has been used as a basis for optimum adaptation of the reflectors.

IST UV innovation: MBS-5L
UV printing with web printing machines requires reliable technologies designed with costs in mind. The MBS®-5L UV system is based on the air-cooled MBS®-5 UV unit, which is already tried and tested in rotary label printing. The MBS®-5L means that a powerful air cooled UV unit with a lamp length of 550 to 1,100 mm is now available. The highly efficient URS reflector technology is also used here.

IST UV innovation: end of press drying system
The new UV end-of-press drying system represents a further optimisation of the tried and tested IST plant engineering in sheet-fed offset printing in terms of both output and energy consumption. Only two individual plug-in modules with an output of 200 W/cm each are now required.

Outstanding innovation: BLK-5 wins the ICE Innovation Award
This year’s ICE Innovation Awards were handed out on the occasion of the ICE Europe 2009 in Munich. IST METZ received the highly prized industry award for its energy-saving BLK-5 UV drying system in Munich on 25.11.2009.
