Ensure excellent performance and reduce costs
The ELC® range of electronic control units is highly reliable and reduces energy consumption.
The ELC® range of electronic control equipment, which IST METZ will be demonstrating at Drupa, has been specifically designed to operate UV lamps. Integrated output controls guarantee a consistent output from the UV lamps. The equipment has integrated electronic and monitoring controls to ensure that the performance of the lamp remains constant even if the network voltage varies by ±10%. The ELC® control equipment therefore ensures greater reliability in the production process. It can be connected directly into the network without compensation and has a nominal power factor of around 0.97.
The equipment also has a high electrical efficiency of up to 97%, which leads to reduced operating costs. Energy consumption is also reduced by the low output of the lamp when the UV system is in stand-by mode and the lamp output is reduced to 20 to 30%. Further energy savings can be made through the customer‘s own energy supply (eg. electrical compensation equipment, energy distribution and tariff classifications.)
By using the ELC® equipment it is possible to reduce considerably the output of the UV lamps. This offers two advantages. Firstly, the energy-saving stand-by mode can be used during long pauses in production. Secondly, the ideal lamp output is selected anywhere between 25 and 100% depending on the print speed to ensure excellent curing results and no waste of energy. This very precise control over the output is also an advantage when printing on heat-sensitive substrates as production can begin with a low UV output to avoid excessive heat on the substrate even at low speeds.
The compact design reduces both the space required for the control cabinet and the weight of the cabinet by up to 50%. Plug-in connections ensure easy installation of the equipment. The ELC® system has potential-free digital control inputs, which are designed for AC or DC control voltages between 10 and 30 volts. The equipment can therefore be integrated without any problems into the control unit for the system. The IST ELC® range meets the requirements of almost all applications in the graphic arts industry as it includes models suitable for use with lamps from 4kW to 22kW.
