Following successful events in 2002 and 2005 IST METZ has just held its third UV Days at its Group headquarters in Nürtingen . The UV manufacturer welcomed a total of 697 visitors during the five-day event (2005: 576 visitors) between 18th and 22nd July. This is more than double the number of visitors to the first of these events in 2002. UV Days 2007 consisted of an in-house exhibition, two workshops and a tour of the production facilities. This format provided many opportunities to learn about UV technology from specialists as well as to compare experiences and develop contacts within the printing industry.
This format received a very positive response due in part to the growing interest in UV technology in this sector. One in five visitors attended the event in Nürtingen following a personal recommendation, showing that UV Days has established a reputation as a valued part of the events calendar. The considerable number of international visitors at such an in-house event is also significant. Overseas visitors came from 34 different countries and made up 52% of the total visitor numbers. In addition to a large number of visitors from Western Europe there was also a considerable number of attendees from America, Asia and Eastern Europe. The overall proportion of international visitors this year was greater than in 2005 due to the interest from these three regions.
There was very enthusiastic participation at the in-house exhibition from industry partners. With 27 exhibitors the exhibition area was full to capacity (2005: 24 exhibitors). The different partners covered a broad spectrum of subjects with their presentations. These included consumables such as inks, varnishes, adhesives, blankets and chemicals in addition to substrates such as paper and films. Other exhibitors covered ancillary areas such as systems for the neutralisation of electrostatic charges, monitoring and inspection equipment, cooling and temperature control systems as well as die cutting tools and anilox rollers.
Feedback from visitors indicated that both the in-house exhibition and the workshops were equally well received. The overriding comments about UV Days were that it is a professionally organized and very informative event.
