IST Metz has been producing UV systems for curing inks, coatings and silicones for over 40 years. What many do not know: The emission of UV lamps also inactivates the DNA of harmful microorganisms. With the Steritube systems, which UV plant manufacturer IST Metz sells together with its partner and air disinfection specialist Virobuster, 99.9% of the microorganisms in the ambient air are killed using UVC technology.
Risk of aerosols in the air
Most common types of transmission of microorganisms:
- droplet contact
- Aerosol inhalation
- (Surface) smear infection
When we speak and breathe, aerosols are excreted, which float in the air for long periods of time and spread throughout the rooms1. The reduction of fungi, bacteria and viruses therefore has a significant effect on air quality.
While additional ventilation costs extra energy and is not easy to set up, a sterile base system can perform six air changes per hour in a 50 m3 room. This results in the deactivation of 90% of the initial air pollutants within 23 minutes.
