A clever modular basic concept combined with its extremely robust and compact design allows the user maximum flexibility and versatility. The system is freely scalable in length and can be adapted to all machine formats and installation situations. This makes it possible to use a water-cooled LUV unit in different positions on a machine. In combination with decades of experience in tailor-made machine integration, the compact design ensures the user access to important areas of the printing press at any time.

UV drying process with AI

SMARTcure technology revolutionises the UV drying process through the use of artificial intelligence (AI). It identifies potential energy savings and optimises energy consumption in real time, reducing operating costs and extending LED service life by continuously adapting operating conditions.

Benefits

HotSwap technology
As standard, the UV systems are fitted with the same ELC type electronic power supply devices. They can be used to continously regulate the dimming range of the UV lamp. Both UV lamp systems and LED UV units can be operated interchangeably with the same ELC.
Deep cure optic
The extremely high-performance LED system not only achieves optimum values for surface curing, but does so even at very great distances and maximum press speed. The specially-developed Deep Cure optical system improves penetration of the entire ink and varnish layer and delivers highly efficient deep curing.
Optimized format adaption
Format adaptation has been further improved, so the irradiated area can be set in increments of 30 mm. The LUV provides optional adjustment in 15 mm increments.
Xtra energy
The optimised irradiation field of the LUV unit offers an extra dose rate, which is crucial for the effective curing of LED paints and lacquers in addition to the peak power.
SMARTcure
AI can be used to recognise potential energy savings and thus positively influence the service life of the LEDs.

XT8 Booster: synergies effectively used

The LUV completes the entire redesigned LED solution range, which IST offers together with its subsidiary IST INTECH. Synergies between the two companies increasingly come into effect, such as XT8 Booster. Thanks to the new booster technology, the LUV has up to 30% more power than conventional LED systems. Other highlights of the LUV include the simple exchange of the optics or the possibility of retrofitting the LED chips.

Performance paired with flexibility

At the usual distance of 50 mm to 100 mm from the substrate, the LUV offers a very high performance in sheetfed offset printing. This is not only due to the maximum irradiation intensity, the so-called peak, but the wide irradiation field of the LUV also offers an extra drying time, also called dose. It is often as decisive for efficient curing of the LED colours and lacquers as the peak. As a result, customers and suppliers of consumables have more flexibility in the design and choice of paints and varnishes.
